Abstract
In light of the seventh principle of cooperative identity, “concern for the community” is really taken into account in the new cooperative models. Similarly, the involvement of various kinds of stakeholders in the activities of the cooperatives and in the decision-making process contributes to the promotion of a sense of social responsibility at local levels. Once again, this demonstrates the commitment of cooperatives to social responsibility as instead of merely paying lip-service to it cooperatives have shown their willingness to put social responsibility in practice. The birth of social cooperation and community cooperatives has returned the relationship between mutual and public benefit to the focus of the debate.
