Abstract
This article presents some fundamental results of a research about the sense that school violence has for its actors, highschool students. Through a qualitative analysis of individual interviews, it is proposed that in last term what students look through violence is the satisfaction of the necessity of Recognition. Thus, the sense of violence does not appear for its actors in an utilitarian logic (that is, they do not fundamentally look for obtaining something concrete with their acts) but in a subjective and symbolic logic. The violent act is a gesture that seems to look for locating the subject in a valued position in front of others perspective (mainly its pairs), and by reaching this position is the way in which the act satisfies the search of recognition.
