- (en) In their recent review concerning the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of fractures in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients, Pimentel et al.1 point out that the incidence of fractures increases according to CKD stage, with the highest relative risk in patients receiving chronic hemodialysis. The authors underline the high mortality and costs related to fractures in CKD patients and review clinical, biochemical, histological, and structural parameters related to bone fragility in CKD. The authors briefly mention but regrettably omit to discuss the occurrence of falls as a crucial determinant for fractures in hemodialysis patients. [...]
