Abstract
Idea crowdsourcing platforms are often based on the cooperation or the competition model. However, a new model has emerged, referred to in the literature as the “coopetition” model. It represents a hybrid model mixing cooperation with competition. This study compares the relative creative performance of the coopetition model compared to the two classical models. Results show that the coopetition model leads to a higher creative performance, suggesting collective intelligence can be enhanced by coopetition. Implications for research and practice are discussed.
