- Abstract
- Tales of bravery, told and retold; taboos surrounding acts of collaborations, barely whispered; stories of fear, of hunger, of flights. These family memories can be transmitted from one generation to the next, creating bonds between the members and contributing to the construction of a family identity. But sometimes, they can also lead to shame, trauma or anger. In our TRANSMEMO project, we investigate how personal memories and family stories of World War Two events are transmitted and interpreted across generations in Belgian families of resisters or collaborators.
