Abstract
(en) At the first century of French comic strips, the rising artistic medium was setting up its own norms for the representation of dialogues. They were inspired by various genres and media, particularly the novel. Assuming that the transposition of a comic strip into a novel magnifies the narratological features of the two artistic media, this paper analyzes fictional dialogues in two novelizations published a century apart: Rodolphe Töpffer’s Voyages et aventures du Docteur Festus (1840), Jean-Jacques Sempé and René Goscinny’s Le Petit Nicolas (1960).
