- Adult learning and education are attracting paramount policy attention. This Research Handbook helps understanding how adult learning and education policies are made, by whom, to what effects, for whose benefit, and what theories and methodologies can be mobilised to study adult education policy developments. Drawing on different disciplinary perspectives, 40 researchers from Europe, Africa, the Americas, and India contributed to this Handbook by: 1) exposing theoretical frameworks and methodological approaches for studying adult education policy, 2) examining long-standing issues and recent societal trends that affect adult education policy and its framing, 3) exploring supranational and international levels of governance and policy in adult education, 5) examining the contributions of adult education policies to societal development and 6) pointing at important avenues for future research. Researchers, students, practitioners, policy makers and implementers with an interest in education policy work and adult learning and education will find this book of great interest.
