Abstract
The principle of the binary correlator may be extended to the class of analog signals without any restriction thanks to an adequate pretreatment of input signals. This consists of comparing the input data with variable reference levels whose probability density is constant and are independent of each other. Since storage of the analog signal resumes to a binary shift register and the multiplication occurs by means of an exclusive OR circuit, a drastic simplification of the correlator circuit may be expected. Several LSI schemes are considered in the paper.
