- Abstract
- Facing a trauma they have not been able to assimilate, families and their individual members set up defense mechanisms to contain their suffering. These mechanisms are initially protective factors but, later, they may become risk factors and contribute to generate disabling symptoms over several generations. Some of these mechanisms are a type of « avoidance Silence settles around the trauma which gradually becomes encysting. A clinical case will illustrate how to come back the encysted traumas.
