Abstract
Between 132 and 135, a Judean, Simon ben Kosibah, known in the literature as Bar Kokhba, rebelled against Rome. The course of the sedition initiated by Simon Ben Kosibah can be reconstructed using various sources. Among these testimonies to the past, the weights produced in the name of Simon Ben Kosibah have never been brought together in a single study. With this approach, we will attempt to prove that these objects were conceived as symbols of power. By exploring the various stages in their manufacture, we will try to highlight a series of choices: the choice to produce weights in a war context, the choice of material, the choice of shape and iconography and the choice of metrology.
