Abstract
This paper deals with the control of biological wastewater treatment processes. More specifically it concentrates on the control of the biological oxygen demand (BOD) and of the dissolved oxygen in activated sludge processes. The control algorithm design is based on dynamic mass balance equations of the process and includes the on-line estimation of uncertain parameters (specific growth rate). Its performance is illustrated by simulation.
