- (en) Based on interviews conducted in France with Filipino women married to French men and on a fieldwork in the Philippines on the migratory trajectory of intermarried Filipino women, this article sketches the biographical narratives of Filipino women married to French nationals and presently residing in France. These women immigrated to form a family, to work or to study. Most of them migrated alone and experienced a marital and family life prior to their departure. The authors describe here three archetypal trajectories (“migrate for love”, “find love through migration” and “marry for papers”) examined through the lenses of love and marriage. To question these trajectories as possible biographical ruptures provides a better understanding of the migratory experiences of the women interviewed, including the institutional mechanism they confront.
