- Abstract
- Using a deliberately ecclesiastical language but without aiming at religion or the Church, the fiction put forth by the author is an act of indignation at the vices that plague the current socio-educational universe, especially the university and the academic area. Beyond the figures and the romantic postures, a dark and realistic picture of the society is painted, in which values are in crisis. But, in the narrator's view, the crisis of values crystallizes in the academic knowledge and pedagogy, which, in Purgam (imagined continent, in the model of Thomas More's Utopia), rhyme with sadism and cynicism.
