We shall do so here by working backwards in the history of the great work - namely Heidegger's lectures in Marburg - in order to recall the philosophical projects that fertilised it, as well as in the great works of history - that is, in the major treatises on metaphysics - in order to check that this new era had not yet begun. While not finding in them the sufficient cause for the rise of Being and Time, we shall find in them a necessary condition (transl.
