- (en) In this article, we place our child psychiatrist’s work, in a residential institution or in a diagnosis centrum, with autistic child and his family in its context. We begin with the history of autism. Than we approach the theoretical thoughts, psychoanalytic and neurocognitive, as equipment to think our work. Open-mindedness and integration of these different theories allow us to take in account the global child with his own specificities. We insist on the necessity of an early diagnosis and on early interventions. We define our function in the intervention’s orientation. In this way, we insist on the importance for the child to get into school, as far as possible, on the necessity to use alternative communication methods, on the importance to support parents and families. To end, we describe also the recommendations for residential institution
