- Abstract
- (en) The Roman de Fauvel, a satirical text from the first quarter of the fourteenth century, exists in two editions: the original version (1310-1314) and the interpolated version (1316-1318). The study uses analysis of the rondeau Porchier mieus estre ameroie, elements of the charivari scene, and the text’s explicit, to show that the interpolated Fauvel is enriched by a playful or even comic tone that is absent from the original text,resulting from an optimism that can be discerned in the work of the satirist.
