Abstract
(en) From the day when Napoleon III restored the imperial throne of France, the Belgian Government could no longer look without worries commotions caused by annexationists ambitions of its turbulent neighbor. Treaty of Turin is in this respect a key moment: annexation Nice and Savoy, and revives the age-old ambition of French foreign policy, the almost mythical dream of natural boundaries. If the Belgian authorities fear a similar maneuver to seize Belgium, the Treaty of Turin also had a fundamental impact on the Belgian national sentiment. It’s precisely this securitization of the national sentiment in Belgian foreign policy that this article aims to analyze.
