(en) [Geriatric evaluation in elderly diabetic patients] Diabetes and frailty are closely linked. Frailty is more frequent in diabetics, and worsens prognosis (increased mortality, hospitalization, loss of autonomy), diabetes complications (micro- and macro-vascular) and the risk of hypoglycemia. Its identification in elderly diabetics is therefore essential, as it will guide glycemic targets and enable specific geriatric interventions that can reduce the risk of falls, hospitalization, loss of autonomy and death. The assessment of frailty in the elderly diabetic subject is essential. It must be reliable, multidimensional, adapted and achievable means of evaluation by all. It will most often be a simplified geriatric assessment, as proposed by the HAS. Some scores, such as the TRST, also allow rapid detection of frailty. This evaluation must be carried out as early as possible and remain dynamic.
