Abstract
Middle Ages, for the transformation of the site into a stone quarry and complex craft workshops. The slow and complex reconstruction, of what survived the gradually decorative remains, demonstrates richness and refinement of materials choice, among which fishy glass sectilia, related to Alexandrian workers, stand out. The reconstruction of all data sets, from fragmented but suggestive disiecta membra, stretches the position of the Aiano villa not only as a central regional site but also highlights its significant role for the Tyrrhenian Italy as well. Sectilia, commissioned here, extensively made of glass paste (over 1,600 inventoried and restored fragments until today), show vivacity and cultural-economic standards of which Tuscan inland benefited and  could still enjoy between the fourth and fifth century A.D.
