Results on the in-plane electrical resistivity and thermal conductivity of low stage FeCl3 and CoCl2 graphite intercalation compounds are reported. Both transport properties exhibit anomalies around the magnetic phase transition temperature. For the thermal conductivity it is suggested that these anomalies should be attributed to magnons, in agreement with other experiments previously reported on such magnetic compounds. From electrical resistivity data, it is shown that the CoCl2 intercalated graphite system and the FeCl3 intercalated graphite system lead to contrasting behaviors.
