Abstract
The chemical effects produced by electron capture and gamma radiolysis in various Co(II) and Fe(II) selenates have been studied using emission and absorption Mossbauer spectroscopy. It is shown that not only the hydration water molecules but also the Se/sup --//sub 4/ anion give rise to oxidizing radicals against Fe/sup 2+/.
