Abstract
The taxonomy of some Southeast Asian Perenniporia and Vanderbylia species is discussed. The type specimens of Vanderbylia peninsularis, Perenniporia celtis, Pe. hexagonoides, Pe. dipterocarpirola, Pe. xantha, and Pe. straminea have been re-examined. From these re-examinations and previous studies undertaken in the frame of a revision of Perenniporia and allied genera, it is concluded that P. hexagonoides and V. peninsularis were previously described as Microporellus grandiporus and Trametes cubensis var. balansae, respectively. Perenniporia celtis, M. grandiporus, and V. peninsularis are demonstrated to be congeneric and more accurately placed in Microporellus. The new combinations Microporellus celtis and Microporellus peninsularis are proposed. Perenniporia dipterocarpicola is reduced to a synonym of Parmastomyces corticola, and the latter is transferred to Perenniporia. The new combination Perenniporia corticola is proposed. Perenniporia straminea is redescribed based on a study of the type specimen and an additional collection from Southern, Japan. The differences between Pe. corticola, Pe. xantha, and Pe. straminea are discussed. The circumscription of Perenniporia is briefly discussed, in relation to Corner's concept of the genus.
