Abstract
After an account of Newtonian and other liquids and their flow properties, including a Bingham liquid and the Weissenberg effect, a description of the application of finite differences is given. This method is used to calculate the flow lines for sudden contractions in cross-section and drawing out of a fibre. This method is also suitable for calculation of the growth of semiconducting crystals. Improvement in computer technique will facilitate the increasing use of this method.
