- Abstract
- Intersectionality, rooted in Black feminist thought, is often underapplied or oversimplified in educational research, limiting its ability to expose how intersecting social categories shape systemic inequalities. Overlooking its critical foundations can dilute its transformative impact. Drawing on a systematic review of qualitative studies, this paper demonstrates how intersectionality can illuminate educational disparities while also addressing key methodological challenges. It ultimately suggests new pathways for applying intersectionality as a powerful tool for both understanding and reducing inequalities.
