Abstract
The goal of the qualitative data-visualisation activity is to co-create with Indigenous community in Cochabamba, Bolivia, sun-printed micro-stories representing symbols of interconnection with Nature. Each story is a small sequential seed of symbols transforming one another through organic stop motion animation techniques, drawing on pre-cinematographic techniques such as shadow animation, thaumatrope, phenakistiscope projection, and image lanterns as intermediaries. The process approaches animation and augmented reality (AR) through projection and offline animation that do not require internet connection or artificial intelligence, thereby reducing ecological footprint. Combining traditional and pre-cinematographic techniques enables the valorisation of traditional practices and Indigenous knowledge rooted in material presence. Re-activating rooted crafts and traditions supports the digital inclusion of Indigenous communities and contributes to the protection and intergenerational transmission of cultural heritage. At the same time, it encourages skill-sharing and capacity-building in multimedia storytelling and strengthens advocacy for sustainability and fairness in biodiversity governance.
