- The Chilean public space can be understood as a field where meanings are exchanged and in which diverse populations, which carry different socio-economic, cultural and even political realities, seek to create coexistence modalities. In the current Chilean context, where democratic coexistence is affirmed, however, we observe, within the "majority" Chilean culture, marked signs of social exclusion that certain "minority" groups face. The objective of this thesis is to understand the terms and the nature of the conflictive relationships between the Chilean majority culture and two minority groups in Chile: the Mapuche "indigenous", on the one hand, and the Colombian migrant population, in constant increase in the last years. The thesis examines the reactions to the multiple forms of rejection, discrimination and, in more general terms, "contempt" (Honneth) of which these two groups, very distant in their historical relationship with the Chilean nation and in the affirmations they express, based on your own experience. We characterize these relationships in terms of "moral conflict" (whether it adopts explicit or latent forms), to the extent that these groups carry, directly or "implicitly", certain expectations of Recognition, before the experiences of contempt that are "deposited", in the structure of social interactions. Therefore, the analysis is based largely on the framework built by Axel Honneth around the notion of "struggle for recognition", not in distributive terms (struggle for material or symbolic resources), but as a grammar of order moral, on which the construction of the integrity of the subjects depends. In this context, the first part of the thesis seeks to discover the terms of recognition requests that are expressed within these two minority groups, in a comprehensive or hermeneutic perspective. Then we seek to identify the "Plot" (in the sense of Ricoeur), that is, the main components of the narrative that can support the subjectivation work of the respondents. This approach allows us to build a comparative thinking, highlighting the most significant similarities and differences in their positioning in the Chilean public space.
