- (en) In this presentation I approach the interview from poststructuralist and pragmatist perspectives on interaction. I advocate a pragmatism and poststructuralism inspired take on interviews that draws heavily on the work of authors such as Holstein and Gubrium. These authors develop and advocate the notion of an 'active interview' whereby the subject positions, identities and inequalities that mark interaction are actively recognised and exploited in order to produce reflexive form of knowledge. I provide a discussion of the historical development of the interview in our 'interview society' and gradually argue in favour of the interview as a self-technique that needs to be dealt with with high degrees of reflexive awareness.
