Abstract
The energy levels of Dy/sup 156/ have been studied by measuring the gamma -rays following the Tb/sup 159/(p, 4n gamma )Dy/sup 156/ reaction using 39-MeV protons. The analysis of the experimental data yields the following results. The ground state (g.s.) rotational band of Dy/sup 156/ is excited up to the 14/sup + / level, the beta -vibrational band, up to 12/sup +/, and the gamma -vibrational band, up to 9/sup +/. Other bands are also excited, with so far unidentified quantum numbers.
