Abstract
The extraction of brominated flame retardants (decabromobiphenyl, DBB and decabromobiphenyl oxide, DBBO) in low density polyethylene (LDPE) was performed by carbon dioxide in the supercritical phase (SFE). The effect of temperature, pressure and of modifier addition on the extraction yield were studied. The highest extraction yields are obtained at a temperature of 55-degrees-C and a pressure of 30 MPa, by means of a 30 min static extraction followed by a 45 min dynamic extraction.
