Abstract
The paper presents a survey of the verbal reduplication types, attested in the oldest Vedic texts, Rigveda and Atharvaveda, summarizing the main relevant facts and focusing on the most interesting formal and semantic oppositions. Special attention is paid to the origin of these types in Indo-European perspective as well as on their iconicity.
