Abstract
The tropical rain forest of Ecuador, Amazon region, in particular the Yasuni reserve, is a hotspot of diversity. It also contains a major reservoir of fusel oil. Since 1970, the oil industry development has become a serious threat to the environment, resulting in dramatic pollution of water and soil. The remediation of polluted soils by crude oil has became a priority for Ecuador.
