- (en) This article examines the books of Samuel as a narrative whole. It aims to highlight the complex dynamism underlying this narrative of exceptional magnitude for the Hebrew Bible. To this end, after a brief methodological introduction illustrated by examples taken from 1-2 S, the subtle use of narrative dynamisms (primarily suspense, but also curiosity and surprise) through which the strategy develops is examined throughout the narrative. The curious finale of 2 S (ch. 21–24) appears, in this light, as a counterpoint highlighting the theological a-priori underlying this strategy.
