- We investigated the role of accelerated senescence on amyloid pathology by crossing telomerase deficient mice (Terc-/-) with an amyloid model of AD, the 5xfad mice. Our findings suggest that early intraneuronal Aβ accumulation during brain senescence is a critical step in the onset of AD-related neurodegeneration.
