- (en) For city dwellers, urbanization induces an increasing separation, both physical and psychological, from the land and the processes and resources that sustain it (MacCleery 2011). Although the linkage between this separation and a global social transformation from a rural to an urban culture is controversial (Scott et al. 2007), the evolution in the perception that urban populations can have on forests is demonstrated in various studies undertaken in the Western context
