Abstract
(en) This chapter forms the introduction to the second part of the volume and focuses on urbanism, i.e. the meso-scale of settlements of various types and the communities they host. It addresses the types of data existing in the Minoan built environment;, how they can be approached in terms of theory and methods; the type of research question that can be addressed; how this particular scale can be understood in relation to the micro- and macro-scales and why it is useful to do so. We also contextualise the individual chapters comprising the second part of the volume.
