(2015) International Symposium on Electromagnetic Fields in Mechatronics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering — Location: Valencia, Spain (10.September.2015)
This paper presents the design and analysis of permanent magnet load compensators with high load capacity. This kind of devices can be used to relieve the mechanical bearings in applications with a high charge. The load compensator is made up of stacks of pair of permanent magnet rings with axial or radial polarization. An overview of the possible geometries is showed. The model used to evaluate the load compensator is described and validated. The magnet volume of those different structures is then minimized using a genetic algorithm and compared for a given load and air gap. General rules are deduced for a wide range of air gaps and loads.
