Abstract
(en) Has the Vatican II decree "Christus Dominus" truly inaugurated a reconfiguration of the ministry of the Bishop? A reevaluation of the Bishop's powers had been expected, yet mostly from a legal, rather than a theological perspective. Finally, a purely ecclesiological perspective was adopted in the final draft of the decree. The deep-rooted theology of the local Church and her relation with her Bishop, moving beyond past resistance, has yet to grow into a deeper and more general reception. This will allow for the recognition of large regional Churches and the entire Church herself as the communion of these regional Churches, and their appropriate deliberative ministerial expressions: Bishop's conferences, particular Councils, Roman permanent Synod, General Councils...
