- Abstract
- By virtue of Article 4, 6° of the 8 August 1980 special Act , “television and radio diffusion” is one of the competences of the three Belgian Communities. As recall, since that Belgium has become a federal State (1970), six collectivities have been created next to the federal State. Those collectivities have received particular competences: the Flemish, the French and the Dutch Communities are globally competent for cultural and teaching matters (Art. 4 and 5 of the quoted Act). The Walloon, the Flemish and the Brussels Regions are competent for urbanism, environment, nature, housing, etc. (Art. 6 of the Act). The aim of this presentation is to explain the impact of the complexity of the Belgian legislation on the Regulation of Mass Media.
