Abstract
Caring the End of Life at Home: A New Domestication of Subjectivities? — This article aims to question the role that the house plays, both in the concrete form and in the symbolic figure of the home, in accompanying the end of life. It mobilizes the Foucauldian approach of the Birth of the Clinic in order to show the role of spatialization in the accompaniment and verbalization of dying. Three contemporary configurations are studied: the spatial dimension of palliative care units, the use of teleconsultation and palliative care carried out at home. These configurations show the existence of a tension: at the same time a symbol of spontaneity and naturalness of dying, the home is an object of intervention and strong hospital constraints. The article concludes by raising the importance, for the ethics of palliative care, of taking up this issue of spatialization.
