- Abstract
- (en) This reflection is both conceptual and phenomenological. It particularly questions the rule of power and the relationship to money in the current growth of the so-called consecrated religious life in the Congolese context (Democratic Republic of Congo). Grounding its support from a fairly deep and complex uneasiness that revolves around the power of authority and money management, the author outlines and analyses the conflicts of positioning (or power) and the fascination that money exerts on consecrated persons living in a community. Formally known as an instrument of cohesion and co-responsibility, and a mean for the service of the religious mission, power and money have surreptitious turned into rooted “problematic” basis. They radically disturb and compromise the “together living” and question the very meaning of the ascetic vocation and the human values boosted by evangelical semantics. As a way of solution and milestones for an appropriation of the community good living manner, the author suggests a sustained collegiality marked and supported by an interdependent communal taking charge of life and its challenges in transparency.
