Abstract
This contribution will analyze the evolution of industrial policy at the national and supranational level in Europe from the origins of the European construction until the adoption of the Lisbon agenda. It will highlight how the transformations of production methods and the competition of the US multinational enterprise have reshaped industrial policies across the member states of the European Union. Finally, it will also assess the past and present achievements of the European industrial policies.
