(en) Rat triceps surae were orthotopically grafted regenerated: after 30 days, the muscles weighted 117±11 mg and produced a maximal isometric force of 55±3 kN/m² (n=4). If frozen and thawed just before the surgery, the muscles did not regenerate. The cells at the origin of the regenerated muscle fibers come not from the circulation but from the replanted muscle mass and could be the satellite cells.
