(en) "Queering language, de-naturalizing gender": This article explores the question of the political power of certain feminist linguistic practices, such as using non-sexist language and queering language. After presenting different avenues taken by research on gender and language that offer a way of breaking away from a purely referential approach to language and of conceptualizing its role in the construction of gender relations, the article explores how certain linguistic practices can contribute to naturalizing gender. It then examines the transformative power of feminist and queer language practices by exploring their capacity to denaturalize gender.
