Abstract
Site-selective growth of colloidal crystals with photonic properties on chemically patterned surfaces was investigated. Substrates with a silane layer pattern of hydrophobic and hydrophilic regions were used as crystallization template. Close-packed structures with excellent optical properties that vary only slightly with the feature dimensions were obtained.
