Abstract
During its term of holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Belgium focuses on the no net land take goal, the avoidance of urban sprawl and soil sealing as part of their policy priority to pursue a green and just transition in line with the Territorial Agenda 2030. The topic is not only a challenge for the three Belgian Regions that are responsible for spatial planning but for all European regions and countries as they all need to contribute to achieving the EU Green Deal policy objectives. This report aims to fuel discussions and promote collaboration and the exchange of best practices among the various Member States of the European Union in achieving no net land take. This Policy Brief is conducted within the framework of the ESPON 2030 Cooperation Programme, partly financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
