- Abstract
- Tools to evaluate olfaction and gustation in humans in clinical practice remained poor for a long time. Recently, the developments of new reliable psychophysical, electrophysiological and imaging techniques have allowed the investigation of smell and taste in humans, not only in research but also in clinical practice. This review will focus on techniques related to evaluation of olfactory and gustatory function in clinical practice. New methods that may be useful in the future will also be discussed.
