- (en) The article proposes to describe the organizational transformations brought by the openness of the borderline and by the development of cross border projects; the aim is to analyse the local process of re-organization – likely territorialisation. Does this change create additional exchanges, easiest mobility or common plans? How and how much is the spatial and socio-economic organization transformed? This paper is divided into two parts: some theoretical aspects and the presentation of two case studies. We pay attention to describe and understand the process at stake. After explaining in some more details what we mean by local governance and territory, we briefly introduce the various possible evolutions of a frontier area. We try to identify relevant variables to distinguish them and to propose an analysis shifting from the political openness to the complex realities of the borders. It means taking into account the aspects of lived experience, perception, diversity.
