Abstract
(en) [What should we know about Ebola virus disease ? Overview in 2015] While Ebola has always prevailed in the Nile Basin and Congo as circumscribed outbreaks, West Africa (Guinea -Conakry, Liberia, Sierra Leone) is at the 10th of february 2015 facing a unique epidemic that has affected 22859 people and caused 9162 deaths so far. Ebola is a filovirus. The symptoms are non-specific, consisting of initial flu-like symptoms followed by severe diarrhea and an hemorrhagic syndrome of variable severity. . During the incubation phase, which is of 2 to 21 days for the Ebola virus, the patient is not contagious. Treatment is symptomatic. Compliance with strict hygiene measures, as well as isolation of infected patients, is essential to prevent human transmission including caregivers. Various promising experimental treatments (antiviral drugs, monoclonal antibodies, or vaccines) are currently undergoing clinical evaluation
