Abstract
A new access to cyclopentenes was developed via a formal (4+1) annulation reaction between electron poor 1,3-dienes and sulfonium ylides. Moreover, the use of chiral sulfonium ylides allows accessing cyclopentenes with excellent enantiomeric excesses. Finally, different derivatization reactions were done with success on one cyclopentene, leading to a variety of functionalized compounds.
