(en) Belief in imminent parousia has a far longer life in Christianity than we usually think. Not only we find it in the Judeo-Christian texts as the Didache, Barnabas, the Epistle of the Apostles, but also among the Alexandrians Clement and Origen. Belief in a future Kingdom withspread only towards the fourth century. From that moment, the evocation of the urgency of the parousia is to be found only in the protest movements of the Church.
